• NTA Employees! Help NTA Write Our "Elevator Speech" by June 30th

      As you know, every employee is a business development advocate for NTA, especially since we are an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Program).

      Often, a challenge for government contractors is helping all employees understand all of the service offerings we support our customers missions with. We are encouraging all NTA employees to get involved with a contest to develop the best “elevator speech.”

      What’s an elevator speech? An elevator speech is quick (60 seconds or less) to inform a person on what we offer/do as a company. Here’s an article on LinkedIn with an explanation. You can also reference the attached FAQs we developed.

      Your local area supervisor/program manager can assist you with the challenge! We are accepting individual and team submissions from now until June 30th. The attached guidance and parameters may answer frequently asked questions.

      Why does NTA need an “elevator speech”? They help all employees understand our services and capabilities while easily and quickly expressing those offerings to our customers and partners. This can help NTA to expand our business and grow more opportunities. NTA’s Marketing, Communications, Business Development and Proposal teams will benefit as well from having a sharp message to convey to the market place. These messages also help with marketing materials, social media presence, interviewing and onboarding new hires and other promotional communications.

      What could the winning participant or team/department win?
      In addition to bragging rights!? Up to $250 will be awarded to the selected party (or team/department)

      The time is fast approaching for the NTA Security Department to conduct our required Annual Security Brief and Training.

      To make this as convenient and efficient as possible, there are 4 sessions. You can join the session in person at our California, MD, office in the Heritage Conference Room, via WebEx or by telephone.   • NTA Signs The Statement Of Support!

      While Friday, the 13th may be superstitious for many, it provided to be a very lucky day for NTA. On Friday, October 13, 2017, Michael Fraser, CEO & President, signed the Statement of Support. The Statement of Support Program is the cornerstone of the DoD’s Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Program (ESGR). The intent of the program is to increase employer support by encouraging employers to act as advocates for employee participation in the military. NTA feels that this program compliments our recent V3 certification and embraces our culture and practice to hire Veterans and support our employees who are called to military training and/or duty.

  • Record Your Goals in PayCom by August 31st!

      Starting now until August 31st, all NTA employees should record goals for the new performance cycle in PayCom!

      To record your goals in Paycom, follow these simple steps:

    • Log on to using your user name and password. For log on assistance, email:
    • Under Employee Self Service, go to “My Performance” and then click on “My Goals.”
    • Click the “Add Personal Goal” button then, record and save your goals by August 31st!
    • Why record goals? Establishing annual goals for performance and development provide an exchange or dialogue between employees and managers to establish clear expectations and develop opportunities for career/personal growth.

  • NTA Acquires V1 Analytical Solutions

      We are excited to announce that on June 30, 2017, NTA acquired V1 Analytical Solutions (

      V1 Acquisition V1 is a leading provider of intelligence and information solutions, special activity support and specialized training for defense, intelligence and other government customers. V1 has extensive experience supporting special operations forces and will add intelligence analysis, operations/missions support, special activity support and specialized military training capabilities to NTA’s existing business capabilities. V1 employees are located in the greater Washington DC area, Virginia Beach, VA and Ft. Bragg, NC. Since its founding in 2010, V1 has experienced rapid growth and now with access to NTA’s business development infrastructure we anticipate this growth will accelerate. V1’s founding principles of high quality and customer commitment are a perfect match for NTA’s value statements and these similar qualities will make integration of the two business smoother and timelier.

      Expanding NTA’s capabilities and customer base is a great way for us to diversify and accelerate our opportunities for growth; which in turn, will increase the value of our ESOP.

  • NTA Awards Kaufmann-Drake Scholarship

      It’s with great excitement to announce Kathryn Grismer, a student at the University of Dayton in Ohio as the recipient of NTA’s 2017 Kaufmann-Drake Scholarship award in the amount of $1,000. Kathryn is the daughter of John Grismer, a Senior Configuration Manager under Paul Harrison in our Dayton, Ohio location that has been with NTA since 2013.

      Congratulations to Kathryn! Her application was impressive and we are excited that she will be our first recipient from our scholarship fund, which was established in honor and memory of our founders. This is a great program and a fantastic way to support NTA children in their pursuit of higher education.

  • Important Message! Annual Performance & Salary Assessments

      NTA is excited to transition the organization to a focal point review process for annual performance and salary assessments via our online tool, Paycom – Effective July 1st!

      What does this mean?

    • Traditionally, NTA has conducted annual performance and salary assessments on an anniversary basis (during the employees service anniversary month). Thus, when an employees’ service anniversary month came up, their supervisor would assess performance via a paper form and determine eligible salary increase.
    • With the addition of Paycom to our online tools, NTA is able to now offer an improved performance assessment form (online via Paycom) and process for writing, submitting, routing, approving and processing these assessments.
    • And, NTA has decided to transition from anniversary based assessments to a one time per year assessment (called a focal point) for all employees – Effective July 1st.
    • Focal point reviews are a best practice for employees and managers to better focus one time per year on this important event (vs multiple times per year) and they also help companies in better managing and planning from a financial and business perspective.
    • How will this impact you?

    • Employees with Q1 anniversaries (January, February and March) will receive an abbreviated review period (April to June) during our transition to a July 1st focal point.
    • Employees with Q2 anniversaries (April, May and June) will not receive their annual assessment during their service month and will instead wait for the July 1st focal point transition.
    • Employees with Q3 anniversaries (July, August and September) will receive early annual assessments – effective July 1st.
    • Employees with Q4 anniversaries (October, November and December) will also receive early annual assessments – effective July 1st.
    • What can you expect?

    • All managers will receive training during the week of April 3rd.
    • All employees will be offered training during the week of April 10th to learn more about this transition and our Paycom tools.
    • Training will include our new online assessment forms in Paycom!
    • Focal Point Assessment Timeline:

    • Service Contract Act (SCA) salary assessments are conducted according to Department of Labor Wage Determinations.
    • Following our July 1st process, employees will be prompted to record performance and development goals in Paycom for the new performance period (July 1st 2017 to June 30th 2018).
    • Training on effective goal setting in Paycom will be provided to both employees and managers. Invitations will be sent out the week of March 20th. Please plan to attend a workshop in April!
  • Paycom is Live! Effective January 1, 2017

      As communicated since November, effective January 1st, NTA is no longer using ADP’s payroll service. We have been working hard to replace our payroll administration along with Bamboo Human Resource Information System (HRIS) and Maxwell Health Benefits Administration and to transition to our new system, Paycom.

      Important FAQs & Next Steps:

    • Paycom logins (with temporary password and user names) are being distributed today to your NTA email address. We encourage you to log in this week!
    • If you need assistance with accessing your NTA email account, reference the attached instructions.
    • In addition, Paycom self-service guidance is also attached for your use. You have the ability to change your Paycom user name (instructions included)! For example, you can change your Paycom user id to your NTA email address.
    • Attend an introductory workshop this week! There are four (4) introductory workshops with demos offered on Tuesday 1/3, Wednesday 1/4 and Thursday 1/5 to assist you in learning about our new system and tools.
    • Check your email for workshop schedules along with calendar invitations.
    • You can attend remotely or in person based on locations available.
    • The calendar invitations include webex and dial-in for remote attendance.
    • The first payroll with Paycom will be processed January 6th. Direct Deposit information has been transferred from ADP to Paycom.
    • Upon logging in for the first time we ask that every employee reviews/updates their record and information as part of the verification process. Please report any discrepancies or concerns to

  • Inclement Weather Guidance

      As winter approaches and the likelihood of inclement weather increases, the NTA HR Department reminds all employees regarding NTA’s inclement weather guidelines, should we experience site/customer closures due to winter weather conditions.

      Upon notice of customer/government site closure, NTA employees should contact their immediate supervisor for guidance and instruction.

      Based on management authorization and dependent on contract/customer site, employees should seek guidance and advance approval from their manager as to which option(s) are available:

    • Employees in Emergency Personnel positions may be required to report to work.
    • Non-Emergency Personnel may:
    • a. Take vacation or Leave without Pay (LWOP)
      b. Request temporary work from home or remote work site location (if available)
      c. Request to make up hours during the pay period

  • Kaufmann-Drake Scholarship Program

      We are very proud to introduce a new program in honor of our founders that will provide on an annual basis a scholarship in the amount of $1,000 to a child of a qualified NTA employee to support college education.

      This is one way for our organization to support college education of the future generation of NTA employees – one child and one year at a time. It’s an honor to be able to contribute in this special way and in memory of the NTA founders, Thomas Drake and John Kaufmann. The Scholarship Committee looks forward to supporting this program and assisting a child of an NTA employee with college expenses!

  • Open Enrollment & PayCom

      Open Enrollment for Non-SCA benefits will begin on Monday, November 28th and will close on Monday, December 12th at 11:59 PM EST!

      This is the period of time that eligible NTA employees may enroll, make changes and/or waive benefit options through NTA for coverage effective January 1, 2017.

      IMPORTANT! This will be an active enrollment, which requires employees that are currently enrolled and not enrolled to actively participate in the open enrollment of benefits; to enroll, change or waive coverage.

      NTA is excited to announce the following for our 2017 benefit offerings:

      NTA continually strives to offer competitive and comprehensive benefits for our valued employees.

    • All providers will remain the same in 2017!
    • All Medial Plan Premiums will remain the same (0% increase) in 2017 – a very significant accomplishment given health care costs continue to rise!
    • Our Health Savings Account (H.S.A) will be enhanced! Be sure to attend one of our upcoming workshops to learn more about how our H.S.A. plan works!
      1. Our AETNA H.S.A will include out of network coverage
      2. For 2017 only the employer contribution to the H.S.A will double! (Employee Only $1000; Family $2,000)
    • Our Short-Term Disability (STD) benefit will improve:
      1. The core STD maximum will increase from $250/week to $500/week and the elimination period will decrease from 30 days to 14 days.
      2. The buy-up maximum will increase from $500/week to $2,500/week and the elimination period will decrease from 14 days to 7 days.
    • Upcoming Communications to Non-SCA Employees:

    • On November 14th, all eligible non-SCA employees will receive an invitation to attend one of six (6) open enrollment workshops (in person or remotely) to learn more details about 2017 benefit options. Be sure to RSVP and plan to attend a workshop!
    • On November 28th, all non-SCA employees will receive our open enrollment launch message from the HR Department with instructions to enroll online via Maxwell Health by December 12th.
    • By end of November, all NTA employees will learn about NTA’s new online HR and Payroll system, PayCom!

      On January 1, 2017 PayCom will replace Bamboo HRIS/Applicant Tracking System, Maxwell Health (Benefits Administration) and ADP (Payroll) to eliminate challenges we have experienced with multiple system and consolidate to one system: Please note that PayCom will NOT replace our Time, Labor and Expense tool, Unanet. Thus starting January 1st, NTA employees will have the following places to go within NTA:

    • PayCom (benefits elections, paystubs, performance evaluations, etc.)
    • Unanet (timesheets, expenses, leave (accruals/balances/used amounts)
    • NTA’s internal portal/website (company news, policies, resources and external links)
    • Employees will receive more information about our transition to PayCom later this month and throughout the month of December. Training will be provided to employees the first week of January and our first paycheck in 2017 (January 6th) will be delivered by PayCom.

      We are excited about this improved offering for our employees and look forward to sharing more about PayCom in the coming weeks with you!

      Our employee referral program has been improved to better serve our employees and support our organizations growth!

  • Change in Life/AD&D/Disability Insurance Company

      Effective September 1, 2016, NTA will be transferring the following insurance coverages from Cigna to Lincoln Financial:

    • Employer paid Life and AD&D Insurance
    • Employee paid Supplemental Life Insurance
    • Employer paid Short-Term Disability (STD) and Long-Term Disability (LTD) Insurance
    • Employee paid Buy-UP STD and LTD
    • Reasons for Change: The primary reason for change is that our rates with Cigna would be increasing in excess of 25%. Thus, we worked with our insurance consultants to seek other providers that would duplicate or improve our current benefits. We received several competitive offers and selected Lincoln Financial as our new carrier based on a combination of benefits, administrative capabilities as well as add-on benefits and references/reputation.

      Changes to Employees:

    • There are no changes regarding eligibility, benefits or cost to our employees!
    • All participating employees with current employee voluntary coverage (supplemental life, Buy-Up STD and/or LTD) will continue to pay the same per paycheck contribution!
    • Plus, effective January 1, 2017, Lincoln Financial will offer employees the option to add benefits previously declined or increase the amount of life insurance if previously elected. That will be part of the annual Open Enrollment process which will occur In November (more information to come).
    • Additional Plan Features: In addition to the standard benefits associated with Life, AD&D and Disability coverage, Lincoln Financial also includes the following services:

    • Employee Assistance Plan (EAP) with counseling services
    • Estate Guidance (including Will prep services)
    • Identity Theft Resources
    • Emergency TravelConnect Program
    • Plan Implementation:

    • While the plan is being implemented for a September 1st effective date, Lincoln has advised it may take an additional week or two for plan services to be fully accessible to employees.
    • Therefore, during this transition period, if you have any questions regarding plan provisions or if you need to file a claim, please contact Human Resources at
    • HR will communicate once plan documents, points of contact with Lincoln, beneficiary designation forms and details regarding these benefits are posted to our Maxwell Health website (once implementation is complete):
